We must work together, across state agencies and with our partners NGOs, iwi, Māori organisations and community groups to reimagine how we best support children to be safe and supported in their whānau and their homes.

How will you make an impact :

Working in the office of the Chief Executive (CE), you will be at the hub of the organisation. This small team plays an integral role, working directly to support our CE and the senior leadership team, to create and sustain real change to the lives of tamariki and rangatahi.

As the Principal Advisor, reporting to the DCE of the Chief Executive's Office, there is no typical day' but responsibilities include :

Providing high quality strategic, organisational and risk management support.

Working closely with senior leaders, their teams and the Minister's office.

Keeping up to date on relevant issues and subjects which may impact the Ministry.

Producing responses and recommendations on reports and papers.

Supporting and developing CE Advisors.

What you will bring :

This is a busy and fast paced role therefore you will need the following skills and experience to ensure you deliver immediate value-add :

Demonstrated experience providing quality advice at a principal level, within a large, complex organisation.

Be a quick thinker who has solid government experience and political nous.

Extensive knowledge of policy, service delivery, parliamentary processes, and Ministerial issues.

Ability to build trusted relationships.

Excellent risk identification and mitigation skills.

Ability to consume large amounts of complex information and see the wider picture from many angles.

Have a child centric approach putting Tamariki at the heart of your work.

Demonstrated commitment to understanding and delivering to our high aspirations for tamariki Māori.
