The Role As a Data Engineer you will be part of the Analytics and Insights team that delivers Business Intelligence and Data Science solutions for high impact business problems for Countdown supermarket chain and our digital stores.
This is a key role responsible for building, manipulating and optimizing our data, data pipelines and data architecture in our ambition to be a data driven business to create the best experiences for our customers through analytics led decisions.
We are responsible for analytics across all aspects of our business so there is no limit to what you will get to experience & learn working in our team.
Key responsibilities in this role will also include : Design, development, installation and maintenance of scalable database and data mart solutions Development of data preparation processes for advanced data modeling, data mining and production quality data science models Collection, cleansing, merging and management of data from various source systems across the business Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements : automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure or data pipelines for greater scalability Build and maintain new data structures and design data processing systems Transition of datasets from a variety of data sources to our Cloud Platforms Work with business and process teams to strive for higher quality data and strategic view of data as an asset Contribute to analytics problem solving and insight generation A little about you You must be comfortable dealing with large volumes of data and be passionate about the influence and value you will create from data.

To be successful in this role, you will likely possess some of the following : Minimum of 5 years working experience as data migration / transformation / integration specialist Strong experience with databases, DB queries, able to manipulate data & understand impacts on performance (SQL, Teradata, Excel etc) Extensive experience in Data Conversion / Migration Projects Experience in Cloud platforms Knowledge of container technologies, microservices Strong hands on ETL experience and SQL,R, Python skills Experience of working in cross functional teams within an agile delivery framework Strong software engineering background and passion for high quality design and code If you are looking to broaden your horizons and work within some of the largest datasets in the country-apply today!
