    What will I be doing?

    This is where you come in! Whānau are at the heart of everything we do so you’ll be playing a key role in building relationships with our children and families! Our passionate team at BestStart Salisbury St love to make learning fun!

    Our centre is located in the heart of central city with a large outdoor area surrounded by beautiful trees. We enjoy excursions to local cafes and libraries in a great location.

    We are licensed for 60 children, 20 under 2's and 40 over 2's. Our teachers take pride in providing a daily learning programme that is rich in inviting and stimulating experiences for children.

    Across our centre we place importance on environment as third teacher, parent aspirations and relationships. We believe in 'Aroha in everything we do' and we take great pride in the wonderful learning environments we are able to provide throughout our centre.

    We are seeking an experienced cook who is a "whizz in the kitchen" to become our very own Centre cook! Ideally, the successful candidate will hold a current Food Handling certificate and have previous experience making delicious food.

    You must have an ability to understand catering for dietary / allergy requirements and be a quick learner understanding compliance.

    Food health and safety training will be provided.

    This position is a permanent part time role (25 hours per week) working Monday to Friday.

    Role requirements :

  • Create a healthy, fresh and vibrant menu, and have experience in providing for children who may have dietary / cultural / religious needs and preferences
  • Set high standards of health and safety, hygiene and housekeeping
  • Demonstrate an awareness of allergies, dietary, cultural or religious needs and preferences when preparing meals
  • Be computer literate in order to design menus and place orders
  • Have the ability to order resources to meet menu requirements within a set budget
  • Support Teachers with supervising children at times
