About the role

We are pleased to share a new fixed-term (2 year) opportunity for a project management professional who can bring grounded knowledge of Mātauranga Māori, and knowledge of indigenous methodologies and project management frameworks, to support the planning and delivery of critical projects and programs of work across our Health Services group.

Our current state in health needs is on a journey to transform to enable the purpose of Hōkai Rangi to be realised. High priority areas for this role will be a focus on Humanising and Healing, and the incorporation of a Māori model of care across Health Services, upholding Tikanga and kawa, and promoting whanaungatanga as a key principle for Kaupapa and project delivery.

You will have opportunities to develop relationships with the people in our care across sites, to further strengthen your knowledge of the health needs of Māori and to enable us to achieve equity for Māori.

You'll also work closely to support our senior leaders across Health, and with key internal and external agencies including Ministry of Health, Police, Justice and various DHB's.

We invite interested candidates who have and can bring the following skills, knowledge and expertise outlined within their written cover letter and CV :

  • Experience in the development and leadership of projects;
  • Strong grounded knowledge of Mātauranga Māori;
  • Knowledge of indigenous methodologies and project management frameworks;
  • Strong relationship development skills - including negotiation experience and the ability to influence others and build consensus;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills - including the ability to effectively communicate technical information to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Ability to interface with all levels of management and to think and operate strategically; and
  • Ability to manaaki, mentor and guide other staff;
