Owing to an internal promotion, Whanganui District Council is seeking a Compliance Team Leader to join its Regulatory & Planning Group.
The role is integral to the ongoing delivery, to the highest standard, of Council's compliance functions.

Reporting to the Compliance Operations Manager, the Compliance Team Leader manages a diverse team comprising animal management, parking services, environmental health and alcohol licensing staff.
Key responsibilities include leading enforcement investigations and managing compliance staff to ensure Council's compliance duties are discharged effectively and in accordance with statutory requirements.
The successful candidate will have good knowledge of local government regulatory legislation, be an effective communicator to a range of stakeholders, have extensive experience in regulatory compliance and enforcement procedures, and possess excellent mediation and negotiation skills.
The ability to motivate and mentor others is essential, as is a proven track record in continuous improvement and delivering exceptional customer service.
Leadership experience, although desired, is not essential, as this might be the opportunity for those looking to take on a leadership role as the next step in their compliance career.
