primary requirements

  • 1. Ph.D. in clinical psychology.
  • 2. Registered New Zealand clinical psychologist with annual practicing certificate.
  • 3. Several years’ experience as a clinical psychologist, preferably utilising cognitive behavioural therapy skills.
  • 4. Excellent assessment skills.
  • 5. Able to provide specialised interventions including neuropsychological and psychometric testing and evidence based therapies.
  • 6. Experience in care co-coordination desired.
  • 7. Experience working within a multidisciplinary team.
  • 8. Able and willing to commit at least two years to our client.
  • 9. Able and willing to apply for NZ residency with the intention of immigrating to NZ long term highly desired.
  • primary duties

  • 1. Manage the delivery of assessment, therapeutic and support services to consumer / tangata whaiora as allocated on a daily and ongoing basis.
  • 2. Provide a quality and responsive assessment for service users / tangata whaiora and their families / whanau referred.
  • 3. Provide appropriate treatment, therapy and support to liaise with other staff and agencies are required.
  • 4. Contribute to the multidisciplinary review of service user / tangata whaiora care and ensure regular reviews of service user / tangata whaiora progress against agreed goals are completed, documented and that quality improvement is actively pursued.
  • 5. Ensure linkages with families / whanau, community agencies, services and support networks are made and maintained for the benefit of the service user / tangata whaiora.
  • 6. Participate in service user / tangata whaiora focused multi disciplinary approach to caseload management.
  • 7. Ensure service is delivered in a culturally sensitive manner.
  • 8. Ensure practice is ethical and that safety of service user / tangata whaiora is considered at all times.
  • 9. Contribute to service planning and programme development processes.
  • 10. Continue personal and professional development in order to enhance practice skills.
  • 11. Participate in continuous quality improvement processes.
  • 12. Cooperate with output reporting requirements.
  • 13. Take part in service training and relevant education programmes.
  • 14. Take some responsibility for quality clinical processes and outcomes for the multi disciplinary team.
  • 15. Participate in duties, which assist the provision of a comprehensive community mental health service to all service users / tangata whaiora.
  • 16. Meet standards by knowing what the applicable standards are and undertake any steps necessary to remedy shortfalls in practice and knowledge.
  • 17. Be open and responsive to service user needs and demonstrate an understanding of continuous quality improvement.

  • The clinical psychologist is part of a multidisciplinary team that provides a range of psychology skills and services including comprehensive assessment, treatment, case management, key working liaison and consultation for service users, tangata whaiora and their families / whanau experiencing mental illness.
