    Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

    The Safety, Risk and Assurance unit at Victoria University of Wellington invites applications for a Senior Advisor Health and Safety (Asset and Infrastructure).

    The Senior Advisor will help Safety, Risk and Assurance achieve its goals by providing excellent co-ordination and advice for university-wide construction activities.

    The appointee will provide expert health and safety advice, coaching and operational support to University managers who have responsibility for construction, asset and infrastructure activities.

    Technical review of health and safety plans, co-ordination of high risk activities and maintaining relationships across staff and contractors are key responsibilities of the role.

    The unit is accountable for health and safety policies and frameworks, advice to faculties and business units, and assurance that policies and frameworks are being appropriately followed.

    The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, demonstrated ability in collaborative consultation and engagement with individuals and communities, and experience building positive and productive working relationships.

    An expert understanding of health and safety legislation is required, along with demonstrated expertise and experience in facilities management and construction processes and procedures, and controlling construction and maintenance specific health and safety risks at a detailed level.
