    The Service :

    This role is based at a residential service in Blockhouse Bay. We work with Oranga Tamariki to provide accommodation and support to all young women in need of a placement.

    Each young person comes with their own story and ambitions. Our team have a common goal - to provide a safe environment where young people can realise their potential, and empower them to make positive decisions for their lives.

    We want to create a safe and homely environment for tamariki / rangathai, where they can achieve their goals and live as independently as possible within the community.

    The role :

  • Support Tamariki / Rangatahi with life skills
  • Be Challenged - In this role you'll experience challenges, a calm and patient approach is essential
  • Support tangata whai ora to engage, connect, maintain and build relationships with their whanau and community
  • Ensure key documentation and handovers are accurately recorded
  • This is a permanent 40 hours per week role that is rostered shifts Monday - Sunday 24 / 7.
  • You'll need :

  • A sound understanding of trauma informed care
  • Experience working with youth, and / or a health related qualification.
  • Good time management and organisational skills
  • Be culturally responsive and non-judgemental
  • See potential in people and thrive in a challenging and ever changing environment
  • Have strong professional boundaries
  • Have the ability to easily build professional relationships with people
  • A patient and calming approach
  • Experience with de-escalation from intense situations
  • Knowledge and experience of a residential services setting
  • The ability to create safe, calm and nurturing spaces
