Our client, a well-recognised construction / project management group, continues to expand its operations across New Zealand through a strong commitment to a long term investment strategy, while working in partnership with its customers and business partners to successfully plan, project manage and deliver a range of larger scale commercial construction projects.
The majority of their current opportunities in the South Island are negotiated contracts with existing clients, some of which are also design & build.
Their current need is to recruit an experienced Estimator, who is at a level where they can step up and accept responsibility for leading the preconstruction phase of the projects.
Working with the guidance of the Commercial Director, you will have considerable interaction with a range of consultants and be responsible for a role that is very much client focused.
As such it will cover a full range of estimating, costing / tender analysis, procurement, and trade letting before handing the project to the Quantity Surveyor on the project delivery team.
You will need to be very competent in managing all the communication & paper trails, but will be aided by working with strong business systems that allow you to control both the internal and external processes.
As part of the wider team you will have the opportunity to work alongside and learn from a talented crew and advance your career working on interesting and challenging projects, where you are involved with clients at the front end with both design build and more traditional project development / procurement models.
In seeking applications we are ideally looking for experienced Estimators, but would also be happy to discuss the role with Quantity Surveyors that have already gained that solid base of experience, who now want a role that is more specialized in the pre-
construction phase of projects. Previous experience in the New Zealand commercial construction sector is essential. We are then looking to identify candidates that are self-
motivated, who are commercially minded and enjoying leading and managing people while confident to use of their own initiative.
