  • Allocations available in Wellington Regionaland Hutt Valley Hospitals
  • We are looking for Resident Medical Officers seeking PaediatricRegistrar positions within the Wellington region. These positions are fullyaccredited for Paediatric Basic and Advanced Training for FRACP, and successfulapplicants are encouraged to register as Basic Trainees with the RoyalAustralasian College of Physicians.

    The Wellington Region RMO positions arerotational across multiple hospitals and sites, including Wellington Regional,Kenepuru and Hutt Valley Hospitals as well as community settings and theMinistry of Health which means that you may rotate to these sites during yourtime with us.

    If you are successful in gaining a position, the service will dotheir best to accommodate the run preferences stated within your cover letter.

    RMO salaries are calculated based on relevantprevious years of experience and the average weekly hours of work as set out inthe relevant run description.

    Experience and Eligibility

  • Suitable for Resident Medical Officers who will be PGY4 / F4 or above by the role commencement date
  • Candidates must have at least 12 months previous experience working within Paediatrics. Some prior Level 3 NICU experience is highly recommended
  • We also welcome applications from Emergency Medicine trainees with at least one year of experience at Registrar level who wish to gain further clinical experience in general paediatrics
  • You must have eligibility for general or provisional general registration with the Medical Council of New Zealand. Information on the process of application for this can be found on their website at http : / / www.

    Our Hospitals and Services

    Join ourfellow 510 Resident Medical Officers employed by the 3 District Health Boardsof the Wellington Region (Capital & Coast, Hutt Valley and Wairarapa DHB’s)to gain leading experience, medical supervision and training.


    Full-timePositions (rotating six-monthly) are available in General Paediatrics and inPaediatric Sub-specialities : Neonatology, Paediatric Oncology / Endocrinology,Child Psychiatry, Child Development.

    There is also an opportunity for advancedtrainees to complete a Community Paediatrics rotation based at the Ministry ofHealth.

    There are three Reliever Registrar rotations.

    WellingtonChildren’s Hospital provides general paediatric care for children inWellington, Porirua and the Kapiti Coast and also provides regional tertiarypaediatric surgery, paediatric oncology, developmental paediatrics, and childpsychiatry.

    The Neonatal ICU provides Level 3 care for a regional population ofover one million


    Providesgeneral paediatric care and Level 2 neonatal care for children in the HuttValley and environs. Hutt Hospital Child Health also provides paediatricrheumatology, diabetes, and adolescent medicine services.

    Thelocal Director of Paediatric Physician Training organises a full lectureprogram for Basic Trainees with 2 to 3 hours protected time per week.

    The ChildHealth Service also provides regular tutorials, Journal Club and Grand Rounds.

    Togetherthe Hutt Valley and Wellington Paediatric services offer :
