Te Pūriri o Te Ora Cancer and Blood research is looking for a new Research and Innovation Manager to lead our established unit through our next growth phase.
We want an experienced, enthusiastic, dynamic manager who is excited by a challenge. We are looking for someone to help us establish programmes and pathways to become a supra-regional academic centre of excellence growing the scope and scale of clinical research for people living with cancer and their whānau.
Te Pūriri o Te Ora is the largest oncology unit in New Zealand, serving a patient population of close to 2 million people.
Our unit delivers research spanning correlative, quality of life and phase I-IV clinical trials, across the disciplines of haematology, medical oncology, and radiation oncology.
Our unit has over 120 clinical trials underway, 40 staff and an annual income of nearly 10 million. In 2017, a new fit for purpose phase I unit was established which has grown exponentially over the last 4 years - we want to further grow this momentum.
Te Pūriri o Te Ora research works closely with the University of Auckland and other academic centres as well as with industry partners to enable research for people with cancer.
Every day our Te Pūriri o Te Ora Research team strives to provide the very best in cancer care, and even better treatments and opportunities for all people affected by cancer.
We want someone prepared to roll up the sleeves to support and enable the team to grow but who also has an attention to detail, and an understanding of the value of relationships and their impact on business development.
This is a dynamic role, which will evolve as the unit grows in strength.
ADHB recognises the value of research for informing clinical practice and improving health outcomes so we are looking for an energetic and innovative person to partner with the Research Service Clinical Director and wider leadership team in the Cancer Te Pūriri o Te Ora Directorate to achieve these goals.
This person will be comfortable advocating for the Cancer Te Pūriri o Te Ora Directorate on project boards and internal governance committees, driving innovation and quality improvement within established systems and ensuring we are well represented internally.
You will be able to develop and provide operational and strategic leadership, further develop our core business by building internal and external relationships, and oversee the implementation and management of research activity within budget to ensure the on-going sustainability and capacity of the research department.
You will have the opportunity to shape our unit as it becomes an academic centre of excellence. A commitment to the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and improving equity are integral for this role.
If you have experience in managing a health professional team within a research environment and can demonstrate outstanding leadership and financial skills with the vision, drive, energy and passion to lead a very busy and rapidly expanding multidisciplinary research team, then we would like to hear from you! This is a fantastic growth opportunity in this area!
