About the opportunity

As Purchasing Specialist, you will be an integral part of our team delivering key inventory support to Maintenance and Operations, with a primary focus on the purchasing processing.

You will lead implementation of improved purchasing processes to optimise inventory and delivery of value.

Working across multiple sites and vendors, coordinating of timeframes and completing administrative work on a timely manner will be critical to this position.

You’ll also have the opportunity to work closely with procurement to ensure current contract rates terms and master data are readily available.

Other key responsibilities include :

  • Inform and educate maintenance teams when correct processes and contracts are not being used, incurring additional costs, to prevent reoccurrence.
  • Supervise stores staff in absence of Inventory Specialist
  • Make best use of available systems and processes to deliver maximum value of available budgets for engineering services and inventory replenishment
  • Working Monday to Friday, this is an exciting opportunity to join our NZM Stores team, supporting our Takaka, Brightwater and Darfield sites.

    About you

    As this role is dynamic and fast paced we are looking for a proven Purchasing Specialist with Maintenance, Repair and Operations experience who has solid administrative skills along with a creative, driven and customer focused approach to join our NZM Stores team.

    You'll be a strong communicator with a high level of attention to detail who can work in tandem with our procurement and inventory teams to identify problems and create solutions.

    Proven Microsoft Outlook Excel skills experience and the ability using purchasing systems, desirably SAP, is ideal.

    In addition, you will be able to demonstrate your ability to juggle and prioritise multiple tasks such as order tracking, purchasing of raw materials and developing inbound delivery schedules.

    Your ability to self-manage and prioritise demands will set you apart from the rest.

    Working systematically and using your initiative to achieve our goals is essential and, while your dairy and / or engineering background would be an asset, it is your stores, inventory, food safety and solid administration background that is key.
