Devonport, AucklandPermanentThis is a full time permanent (civ) positionWhat you will doThe Senior Instructor manages the policy, training and delivery of all sailing activities carried out with in the RNZN to facilitate leadership training in a maritime environment, in support of the NZDF Leadership Development System.
In this role you will be the Chief Instructor (Sail) for the RNZN Royal Yachting Association Recognised Training Centre, and the authority for assessment and award of Sail Training Craft qualifications.
What we needWe are seeking a person with a passion for the maritime environment, sailing, training and leadership development.
You will bring significant experience in teaching or instructing, in addition to this you will also have a vast amount of offshore sailing / skippering experience.
This prior knowledge and experience has given you an in-depth knowledge of the marine industry in NZ, including relevant courses and syllabi.
A Maritime New Zealand Commercial Qualification such as Skipper Restricted Limits or higher.Please note that suitable applicants will need to complete a practical test and undergo psychometric testing as part of the evaluation process.
Who we areThe Experiential Leadership Squadron (ELS) is part of the Leadership Development Group (LDG) within Devonport Naval Base.
The Squadron primarily delivers experiential leadership training in a maritime environment, mariner skills and adventurous training, to the Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) and NZDF community.
The unit also provides recreational activities and support to other government departments.Every hour of every day, 365 days of the year, the New Zealand Defence Force is contributing to the defence, security and well-
