About the Role

This role requires a broad skill base that we expect an experienced and autonomous procurement professional will need to drive best practice procurement.

Given how early Callaghan Innovation is within its procurement journey, and the extent to which the advisor will be working closely with the Procurement Manager to build the foundations of a renewed procurement function, the advisor needs to offer a well-rounded procurement and commercial skill set reflective of the full procurement lifecycle.

As the Senior Procurement Advisor, you will be responsible for leading the procurement elements of multiple projects at once ranging from medium to high-level complexity.

You will work with various project managers across the business to develop procurement strategies and provide specialist commercial support to maximise public value.

You will also lead engagements between Callaghan and its stakeholder networks with the aim of achieving innovative and well-informed procurement solutions and lifting commercial capability.

One of the most important aspects of the role is the implementation of a contract and supplier relationship management framework that will support the business leveraging further public value and help establish best practice behaviours.

You are digitally savvy and keen to embrace and apply new technologies. With an agile way of working and a growth mindset, you will be set to be future-ready.

About You

  • Consideration for the empowering capacity of procurement, rather than just compliance
  • Experience in interpreting and applying the Government Procurement Rules and other sources of best practice to support strategic organisational objectives
  • Solid understanding of government procurement processes and agile procurement methodologies.
  • At least 5 years' experience in a procurement focussed role with a background in sourcing and contract management (preferably in a government environment).
  • Exposure to leading the development of procurement strategy and change within a government environment.
  • Effective communicator both written and verbal with the ability to negotiate and influence to agree the best business outcomes
  • Professional judgement and decision-making ability consulting as required to support the procurement function and wider business
  • Stakeholder-focused; proven ability to develop effective relationships with both external and internal parties
  • Flexible in approach to work with the ability to change work priorities when required.
