Senior / Analyst Tracing and Network Analysis - Fixed Term (March 2021)
New Zealand's Mycoplasma bovis Eradication Programme, is a world first effort to eradicate this cattle disease from a national herd.
Elimination of this disease will help protect the productivity of our dairy and beef industries, part of our multi-billion-dollar export economy and New Zealand way of life.
The Programme environment is dynamic, as it adapts quickly to increase the effectiveness of our eradication methods, works to reduce the impact on affected farmers, and ultimately leave New Zealand's biosecurity system stronger.

Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
The Tracing and Network Analysis team are responsible for tracing animal movements and understanding the infection network using the extraction and analysis of data, to identify, movement events relevant to the programme.
The team tracking these movements of cattle using a variety of information sources, including the National Animal Identification and Tracing (NAIT) scheme - the work is complex and detailed.
You will work with multiple databases to accurately extract and analyse data from these various sources to identify the movement of animals at risk of transmitting M.
bovis. This information is used by the Disease Control function and the wider M. bovis Programme and is used to inform actions on farms for disease control

Mōu - About You
To succeed in this role, it's essential you have a Tertiary qualification in biological sciences, Animal Science or veterinary science and an understanding of the farming sector particularly dairy farming in NZ.
You will be working with large data sets, so you'll also be able demonstrate your ability to gather, organise, analyse and communicate information efficiently and effectively.
Familiarity working with large data sets will see you as an expert user of Microsoft Excel and various databases and the use of common coding / database querying languages such as R, Python, SQL
