Salary Band is $92,073 - $124,570 depending on skills and experience

    About the Role Kōrero mō te tūranga

    As the Senior Adviser Health and Safety you will have a unique opportunity to take the lead on various initiatives that support growing the capability of the team in Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service, with a strong focus on taking what are already good safety practices and making them great.

    You will collaborate with your peers to embed various programmes of work including health and safety initiatives to ensure safety is just the way we roll'.

    In your role you will work alongside other Health & Safety practitioners within MPI and Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service staff to understand issues and identify barriers that might impact on our ability to improve our safety practices and embed a culture of safety.

    This partnering will identify opportunities to share insights and solve problems to implement change and improve performance.

    We're looking for a seasoned Health & Safety professional who is collaborative by nature, is comfortable with systems and processes and is a great communicator.

    Core responsibilities for the role :

  • Improve health and safety processes and programmes within Te Uru Rākau - New Zealand Forest Service.
  • Analyse data, identify trends and risk areas and provide advice.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to promote awareness and understanding of the benefits of good safety practices and build on the good work already underway.
  • Provide insights on health and safety to assist with identifying opportunities for improvements and ensure that Te Uru Rākau New Zealand Forest Service has a strong Health and Safety Plan

    To be successful in this role, you will offer :

  • Experience in delivering initiatives within the government environment
  • Demonstrated experience with continuous improvement
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • A good understanding of risks in a Health & Safety context. You need to be able to manage and mitigate them.
  • Demonstrated experience in establishing and maintaining collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders
  • An eagerness to increase knowledge of Health & Safety and grow capability
