About the opportunity
We're seeking a Grid Operations Planner, based in Auckland, to join the team. Our Grid Operations Planners work normal business hours, although there is the potential to develop your career and work in the Operations Centres if your lifestyle and desire for shift work changes over time.
While the core role is detailed outage planning and management of grid access, the key to your success will be your ability to build relationships and communicate effectively with our Service Providers working on the Grid and Lines companies, connected customers and other stakeholders to understand their requirements.
You'll provide the operational interface between the national grid and connected customers, through the preparation of the detailed switching packs that enable the efficient switching of assets for maintenance, commissioning and decommissioning.
You'll also be accountable for ensuring all systems, processes, appropriate training, detailed outage planning and asset operating are successfully managed and remain aligned to Transpower's asset management strategies.
Taking a proactive approach, you'll look for opportunities to optimise plans and manipulate data to efficiently and effectively deliver the work.
You're a collaborative team member who thinks big picture but also works comfortably in the detail. You enjoy problem solving and pulling pieces of the puzzle together to get a clear understanding of availability, time frames and other requirements in order to coordinate outages necessary to facilitate work on the National Grid.
You're naturally curious, so finding opportunities to improve performance and support the implementation of continuous improvement processes for new and existing services will become second nature.
What's not to love about this role? With multiple touch points you'll develop your relationship management skills whilst deepening your understanding of this ever-evolving growth sector.
You'll be empowered to act and bring solutions to the table to ensure the decisions we make today are in the long-term interests of Aotearoa.
