MidCentral District Health Board has a vacancy for an occupational therapy assistant to join the Occupational Therapy Department in Palmerston North.

This person will be required to work under the direction of a registered Occupational Therapist providing clinical support and assistance to the Occupational Therapy team when required.

The tasks of this position are many and varied and include undertaking occupational therapy interventions with clients under direction of the Occupational Therapist or Physiotherapist primarily in the OPAL (Older Persons Assessment & Liaison) ward.

This is a full time position working 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

The successful applicant will be;

Enthusiastic, energetic, resilient, with a can do' attitude

Has experience and ability to work effectively within a team and under direction of an Allied Health Professional

Ability to adapt and flex to trial new ways of working

Strong desire to help clients and whānau achieve their goals

Sensitive to cultural differences and committed to the Treaty of Waitangi with a willingness to learn about te reo Māori and tikanga Māori

Effective written, oral and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate with people from a wide variety of backgrounds and cultures

Strong organisational and time management skills

Basic computer, IT and clinical documentation skills

Have completed or be willing to complete Career Force' Health Assistant strand Qualification (level 3)

Experience working with adults in a rehabilitation setting is an advantage

A full, current, driver's licence essential

Hold relevant residency status to work in New Zealand essential
