Emerge Aotearoa is a social services organisation providing a range of services to whānau, including Health and Disability, Youth and Emergency Housing.
Our kaimahi all have a common goal - helping people realise their potential with the aim of supporting people to live their best life as independently as possible.
Based in Gisborne, you will be providing support to clients living in the community who are having trouble with their mental health or addiction.
We provide support to make positive changes in our clients' lives, by helping them identify their strengths, desires and to help set goals and plan the necessary steps to achieve them.
You will be confident in carrying out daily recovery activities focusing on client strengths, be able to implement best practice interventions and rehabilitation strategies to support our service users to meet their goals.
You will use your non-judgemental attitude and belief to encourage clients to improve their life skills, communication and community participation in order to enhance their recovery.
You will have the ability to work as part of a team, as well as being able to work autonomously. Strong professional boundaries are a must have.
Duties of the role could include;
Encouraging physical activity by walks in the community
Participating in daily activities such as shopping and cleaning
Confident advocating for whaiora at appointments
Championing best practice interventions
Encourage whaiora to follow their wellbeing plan
Y ou will have :
Must have a Mental Health Level 4 qualification or above (or equivalent), or experience working in the mental health / AOD addiction sector
Show compassion and can provide examples of working for whanau with mental health challenges - be whanau / client centred
Have effective and appropriate engaging communication, both written and verbal, using strength based language
Must have a Full New Zealand Drivers Licence
