The Role

While this role will be based at our Simcox Division in Blenheim it will report directly to the Business Development and Tenders Manager who is based in Christchurch.

This role is comprised of two main parts. Primarily, you will take a leading role for the area of contract estimating in the Marlborough region and have input in other branches / regions when required.

The main focus of this role is to work closely alongside the Business Development and Tenders Manager and our Tender bid team to deliver high quality price and non-price attribute tender documents to our valued clients.

This role takes significant responsibility of the estimating area, supported by a team of Project Managers, Project Engineers and Engineering Technicians.

The role also includes liaising with sub-contractors and suppliers, and updating standard pricing lists and internal estimating standards.

Ideally, you will have Project / Contract Manager experience of 5+ years in the industry. At times, you will be required to assist projects in a Quantity Surveying capacity instead of, or in addition to, your estimating duties.

  • Other responsibilities will include;
  • Coaching & mentoring less experienced Engineers.
  • Ensuring on-going updating and maintenance of estimating programmes
  • Ensuring all estimates are completed on-time and to the appropriate levels of quality both for price and non-price attributes
  • Providing estimating and / or project management support to other staff on existing projects
  • Undertake other projects within other divisions at Isaac Construction; this could be spreadsheet building, standard estimate building, resource‚Äôs programming or other various tasks as required
  • Key Skills & Experience

  • Having a diploma or degree in Quantity Surveying or Civil Engineering, or a related field is required
  • 5 years minimum of estimating and project management in the Civil Industry
  • Very experienced on Microsoft Excel, Word and Project
  • A good knowledge of modern estimating and management practices
  • Good knowledge of NZS3910
  • A collaborative mind-set and be able to work as part of a wider team to deliver company goals.
  • The ability to work alongside Project Managers and Project Engineers to plan and strategize methodologies and timing will also be an important part of the role
