We have opportunities for senior policy professionals at the Senior Analyst and Principal Advisor level to join our Skills, Employment, and Enterprise team .
The team is responsible for Treasury's Labour Market, Immigration, Tertiary Education, Science and Innovation, Competition, Economic Development, Collective Bargaining, and Business Growth policy advice.
Current significant matters on our work programme include Fair Pay Agreements, Minimum Wage changes, Immigration policy settings, Tertiary education systems reviews, Research and Development incentives, and economic development initiatives.
Your Role :
If you want to work in a multi-disciplinary team that provides policy advice to Government across a significant portion of the economy and Government work programme then this is an ideal role for you.
You will work closely with other central agencies and government departments and will have significant opportunities to influence and help shape a number of policy agendas, including providing advice directly to the Minister of Finance.
As the team's Principal Advisor , you will play a policy leadership role. You will shape the team's work programme and priorities, provide oversight and guidance to other team members and support the manager in developing team culture and capability.
You will also lead our policy advice and engagement with central agency colleagues and Ministers' offices and contribute to the Treasury's work and advice on the economic strategy.
We will also be looking to you to provide intellectual and people leadership across the wider Treasury.
As a Senior Analyst , you will have opportunities to lead the team's work and advice on priorities across the business growth and economic development portfolio.
You will also provide oversight and guidance to other team members, with a particular focus on support to team members working on innovation, competition and labour market issues.
What we are looking for :
You will have significant breadth and depth of public policy experience for the principal role, particularly in leading strategic analysis and reform in complex policy areas.
For appointment at the senior level, candidates will have at least five years' of experience working on complex and strategic policy analysis, development and advice.
We want people that can bring innovative thought leadership to the development of advice and those who can help find creative solutions to complex problems.
You will also have a demonstrated ability to mentor and support others to develop their expertise.
If you understand how to use your communication, leadership, relationship and analytical skills to get traction on complex policy problems, then we would like to hear from you.
An understanding of our work policy programme would be an advantage, as would experience in financial and performance analysis.
However, we are interested in candidates from a broad range of backgrounds.
