Our structure comprises of six key business units; Corporate Services, Integrated Catchment Management, Asset Management, Māori Partnerships, Policy & Regulation, and the Executive Advisory Group which also consists of the Civil Defence and Emergency Management.

About the Opportunity :

We are looking for two Biosecurity Advisors Pest Plants to join the team on a fixed term basis until 30 June 2022 . Based in Napier, this team looks after Regional Pest Management across Hawkes Bay, focusing on both biodiversity and production pest plants.

The Biosecurity Advisor roles are key in ensuring the team is able to adequately resource deliverables in the Council’s Pest Plant Management Plan with a focus on the additional workload around Chilean Needlegrass.

About you :

You will be a competent communicator who is comfortable working outdoors and with people in our rural communities and the Agri-business sector.

You’ll be accustomed to working to deadlines, have a strong interest in pest plant management, and able to gather field-based pest plant information to support effective decision making.

Ideally you will also have :

  • Experience in a similar role / relevant industry.
  • Strong pest plant management technical expertise
  • Strong conflict resolution skills
  • Valid driver’s licence required
  • Motorbike experience preferably two-wheeler is an advantage
  • A reasonable level of physical fitness
  • The salary range for this role will depend on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
