About the opportunity

We have a permanent opportunity for a L6 Environment Operator to join our friendly team at Longburn.

We are looking for a jack of all trades who enjoys the outdoors and is happy to work autonomously. We need someone who is ready to roll their sleeves up and pitch in around the Longburn site and Fonterra farms as a member of our Environmental Team.

This is a role with variety where you will be a key part of maintaining the on farm irrigation, assisting with the operation of the wastewater loss monitoring programme, and maintaining the waste water treatment plants on the Longburn site and other site owned facilities.

Initial training will be Monday to Friday for approximately 3 weeks to enable induction and onboarding to be fully covered.

It will then move to a 5 on, 3 off day shift only roster (6.30am 4.00pm) with On Call responsibilities.

Core responsibilities :

  • Irrigation placement and daily management
  • Wastewater treatment plant maintenance and reporting processes
  • Compliance sampling and monitoring
  • Compliance data entry
  • On Call on a rostered basis
  • Other ideal skills include :

  • Mechanical aptitude
  • Proficient computer / data entry skills (SAP / Excel / Word / Equal)
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in operation of agricultural machinery (Tractors, ATVs and utility vehicles)
  • Current New Zealand Drivers licence
  • Proactive Team Player
  • Physical fitness
  • Adheres to and role models good H&S practices
