  • strategy development, and providing fast paced advice with near instant impact.The Policy team takes a holistic approach in building its capabilities to be able to deliver an ambitious work programmes for keeping New Zealanders safe from COVID-19, and helping New Zealand reconnect with the world.

    As well as providing first opinion policy advice, you will also be working on a range of interesting and varied policy work, and working across government with a range of agencies.

    What you will bringKey requirements of the role include :

  • A well-developed understanding or experience of the public policy environment
  • To be able to provide high quality policy advice and analysis
  • To be able to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders
  • To have a good understanding and experience in the development of legislation and / or regulations (desirable for some roles but not required)
  • To work on complex policy programme and providing suggestions and solution to improve outcomes for New Zealand About usOur Policy Group supports the protection of the health and wellbeing of people in New Zealand through facilitating the safe flow of people across the borders.
  • We are made up of three policy team that support the organisation by providing sound advice and analysis across the MIQ system, which includes work on :

  • How MIQ vouchers are allocated across the competing demands;
  • Changes to the MIQ network and supply of MIQ;
  • Future strategy and policy for the MIQ system;
  • Working with the Ministry of Heath to ensure our MIQ settings minimise the risk of the virus entering the community;
  • The fees and funding arrangements for MIQ, and
  • MIQ workforce. The work the policy group does has a real impact on New Zealanders as we play a vital role in all-of-government work around bringing New Zealanders home;
  • and how we can reconnect with the rest of the world.Work on MIQ continues to change and evolve as the global policy response to the pandemic, and the virus itself, keeps changing.

    To achieve our goal, we work in partnership and collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including the wider MIQ operations and with other government agencies.
