Genesis is New Zealand's largest energy retailer, supplying electricity, natural gas and LPG and generating around 20% of New Zealand's electricity from thermal and renewable power stations.

We're on the hunt for an experienced Senior Environmental Coordinator to join us at Tokaanu Power Station, on the southern shores of Lake Taupo.

This is a great role where you will be responsible for implementing Genesis' varied environmental management workstreams for the Tongariro and Waikaremoana Power Schemes.

Joining a small, close-knit team, you'll provide technical advice and leadership across a wide range of environmental management areas including ecology, hydrology, water quality and / or conservation, whilst ensuring compliance with the Resource Management Act and resource consent conditions.

You'll be a natural communicator, and a key contributor to enhancing our long-term relationships with Iwi and key stakeholders.

To be successful in this role you'll have the following skills and experience :

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in environmental management, science or equivalent.
  • Five to ten years practical experience in an Environmental role.
  • Significant working knowledge of the Resource Management Act 1991, as well as other statutory and planning processes.
  • Extensive and proven stakeholder engagement experience; as well as Iwi relationship management experience (knowledge of Te Ao Maori and Te Reo Maori will be highly regarded).
  • Environmental management experience in related industry, local / central government, biodiversity / ecology or consulting.
  • Project management experience, involving considerable budgets and conflict management and multi-party negotiations.

    Excellent written and verbal communication skills are a must.
