    About the opportunity

    We have a vacancy for an additional Occupational Health Nurse to join our Occupational Health and Safety team. This fixed term role will assist our current Health Nurses with the extra demands of COVID-19 by supporting staff with their individual risk assessments, providing advice and processing pre-employment screening.

    You will work in collaboration with Southern DHB staff and management, providing clinical support to optimise employee health care and outcomes during this dynamic time throughout the region.

    About you

    To hit the ground running in this role it is essential that you :

  • are a Registered Nurse and hold a current Nursing Council of NZ annual practicing certificate
  • can demonstrate experience in developing and implementing health promotion and disease prevention strategies / programmes related to workplace risks
  • have experience in identifying and managing workplace ergonomic issues
  • have excellent communication skills and the tools to deal with conflict resolution, diffusion and mediation
  • The responsibilities of this role will include :

  • Developing, managing and communicating all SDHB occupational health policies, procedures and standards ensuring compliance with relevant legislation
  • Delivery of a robust health monitoring programme to identify and mitigate / manage all occupational health risks in conjunction with your colleagues.
  • Reporting to the Occupational Health and Safety Service Manager, this key role has a wide-ranging scope and will need you to function in the role of clinician, educator, consultant and manager.

    You will provide oversight, vision, and support for SDHB management and employees in all aspects of workplace occupational health management.
