Senior Land Development Engineer
2020 was a big year for us at Te Kaunihera aa Takiwaa o Waikato (Waikato District Council), where although COVID created big challenges, it also created some opportunities for change that we have embraced.
We've welcomed a flexible workforce and reworked our office spaces to maximise this. We're opening up career pathways, showing our people how much we value them, and we give everyone their birthday off!
To make our changes successful we need great people. Are you one of them?
Who are we looking for?
Our district is going through substantial growth, and we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Land Development Engineer to join our Consents team.
As part of this role, you will be a leading subject matter expert on land development matters by advising customers with complex or high-profile developments on all engineering aspects, from early engagement through to decisions.
You will work with consent planners, developers and their agents on providing technical expertise on engineering requirements for subdivision of land and land use changes.
You will also provide the interface between Council's Asset Managers and the developers when new infrastructure is proposed, review engineering design and monitor the construction.
We're looking for someone with great customer service skills, a 'can-do' attitude, who want to share their knowledge of the RMA and consent process, make quality decisions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Ideally you will have a relevant tertiary qualification in engineering technology alongside at least 5 years' experience in a Development Engineering role.
You will have experience in leading and managing professional experts and have a good understanding of Local Government functions.
