Our Corporate Property team has an exciting new career opportunity, Manager WorkSmart Programme. The main purpose of this role is be responsible for leading, planning and ensuring the successful delivery of our transformational corporate office and storage optimisation programme for the Auckland Council Group.

You will be responsible for optimising more than 100,000m2 of office space in multiple buildings across the Auckland region and at the same time transitioning our Auckland Council Group staff to flexible ways of working.

As such this is a great opportunity for a capable and experienced Programme Director who is looking to take the next step in delivering a transformational programme of size, scale and complexity that is rarely available in New Zealand.

Key responsibilities will include :

  • Lead and manage the Auckland Council Group WorkSmart optimisation programme from inception to completion including the delivery of multiple project workstreams for more than 100,000 m2 of office and storage facilities.
  • Lead the development and evolution of our workplace strategy and workplace change programme encompassing flexible ways of working.
  • Management oversight and overall accountability of all office and storage facility disposals as part of the WorkSmart programme.
  • Manage with mana whenua engagement to ensure Te Aranga design principles are embedded deeply into and new developments and workplace outcomes
  • Develop and maintain effective governance and reporting and ensure appropriate resource allocation.
  • Plan and manage all capex and occupancy spend for the programme and ensure disposal receipts cover all in-scope approved programme expenses.
  • Ensure all direct reports have clarity of vision, responsibilities and expectations and inspire, motivate, and coach, those in your team consistent with council’s values and our charter to deliver the programme objectives.
  • Connect and collaborate widely with internal and external stakeholders and service providers to build constructive and effective working relationships and build momentum for change.

    You will likely be a senior property professional experienced in working in a large complex organisation and you will have the confidence and resilience to develop and deliver a complex portfolio optimisation and workplace transformation programme of work.

    You will have an in-depth understanding of commercial property sector disciplines including contract management, negotiation and project management.

    Experience in developing and delivering property workplace optimisation and change programmes is also desirable. You will have excellent interpersonal and relationship management skills, and a collaborative and engaging approach with internal and external stakeholders.

    You will have the ability to think strategically when confronted with ambiguity and make quality decisions in dynamic and challenging environment.
