    We are seeking Casual Peer Support Specialists. People who are passionate abouthelping others on their recovery journeys?

    You’ll need to have your own livedexperience of mental health and / or addictions? If so, then keep reading.

    Casual roles are to cover leave for permanent Peer Support Specialists - thehours of work are not regular and are offered when they become available.

    Weoperate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you will work across a variety ofservices.

    The shifts are :

    Day Shifts : 7.00am -3.30pm (across all services)

    Afternoon shifts : 3.00pm 11.30pm (24 hour services)

    Night shifts (8 hour awake) : 11.00pm -7.30am

    As a Casual Peer Support Specialist, you might be kept busy supportingpeople with budgeting and independent daily living skills or attendingappointments and advocating for people.

    You might be assisting people toconnect with their communities. You’ll need to be prepared to do whateverit takes - cleaning, cooking, gardening, personal care or helping out witheveryday household tasks.

    The Team

    You’ll be reporting to the Team Coach and joining our Peer Acute AlternativeService. This is a service delivery model that provides an alternative toa hospital admission, working in a team of 24 peer support specialists allwith a common purpose to support people experiencing mental illness.

    We are interested to hear from people who have a caring nature and work in arecovery focused way. You will be able to provide medication support forour people and have impeccable attention to detail.

    You’ll also have :

  • A current peer employment training certificate and WRAP
  • You'll have You’ll have Peer Employment Training (PET) or Intentional Peer Support training (IPS)
  • A current first aid certificate or be willing to obtain one
  • It is preferred applicants hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent or be currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent
  • You’ll preferable have experience working in a peer service
  • You’re a great listener the sort of person who will listen deeply to the people who use our services
  • You’re a fresh thinker, using curiosity and imagination to generate new ideas
  • You’re energising, inspiring others with enthusiasm and a take action approach
  • You’re a communicator - the sort of positive person who loves working with people
