JaffaJam is looking for a creative and energetic intermediate game artist to join our expanding team to work on an exciting project for mobile and console.
In this position, you will be working alongside our Junior artist to create compelling content that will include 2D environmental and character art.
JaffaJam is a growing independent development and publishing studio based in Auckland.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES : Include the following.
Other duties may be assigned : Create stylized art ranging from illustrative to painterly, from concept to implementation in the game, while having flexibility for realism.
Conceptualize, design, and create 2D in-game visual effects by using available tools in a real-time engine.Create character concepts, environments and backgrounds.
Design and create UI to fit the chosen game.Active involvement in the game creation process by interacting with the game team.
Effectively contributing to the art pipeline while understanding target platform constraints.Work with programmers to implement any required assets into Unity.
Deliver JaffaJam games to a high quality, on time and on budget.Collaborate with our existing artist, with the opportunity to mentor them if needed.
Accurate estimation and task breakdownsAssist in raising the profile of Jaffa Jam in the marketplace through online and offline social networking, and participation in industry groups.
Requirements3+ years of experience as a video game artist.Thorough understanding of digital / traditional and Graphic art techniques.
Good knowledge of 2D editing tools, like Adobe Illustrator and Animate, to be able to deliver good quality 2D assets and animation.
Good skills using Photoshop and illustrator (or similar tool) to create concept art, image editing, UIExperience working in Unity 2018 or laterExperience with Source Control (SourceTree, Git, BitBucket or similar)A solid background in academic drawing, sketching and / or illustration is a major asset.
Self-motivation, excellent communication and organization skills, team spirit, proactivity.Positive attitude with the ability to receive and provide objective feedbackAbility to multi-task and to adapt easily to change.
Passion for games and some knowledge of the gaming industry.PORTFOLIO REQUIREMENTSIn order for your application to be considered, you must submit a portfolio or other samples of your work.
All portfolios must contain a detailed shot breakdown of the work. It must be very clear what you, the applicant, are responsible for in your reel, screenshots, scanned pictures, web page portfolio, etc.
