Combining both back of house and front of house skillsets, this is a unique opportunity to join the leadership team at Tūroa Ski Area.

From getting ready for the season through to end of season pack down you will ensure the smooth operations of the Food and Beverage department.

Reporting to the Ski Area Manager, you will have full responsibility of the Food and Beverage team in providing an outstanding food offering to our guests and staff.

We expect our leaders to create a sense of fun to motivate their teams and in Food and Beverage this is especially important to ensure that our guests receive quality food, with great service, in clean and tidy cafes.

Driving results and getting the most from your team through engagement is a core function of this leadership role.

This role will keep you on your toes, with no two days the same. You will be hands-on with your team, providing leadership support through your Café Supervisors, and qualitative oversight of all kitchen operations.

Key responsibilities are :

  • Providing support to Café Supervisors, as they manage daily café operations.
  • Providing training & quality oversight of daily kitchen operations, and engaging directly with our kitchen staff.
  • Designing all menu items to a high standard, with a key consideration to COGs and labourrequired to prep / cook / serve.
  • Preparing departmental training, food control plans, alcohol licensing requirements.
  • Ensuring guests are served efficiently and accurately with a focus on exceptional service.
  • Liaising with other departments to maintain efficient operations and communications.
  • Responding to guest feedback and identifying areas to improve.

    The type of person best suited to lead this fast-paced department, possesses a natural ability to lead a team, is guest focused, knows and produces quality food.

    The successful applicant will have prior experience leading a team, designing and building menus, and be able to demonstrate a high degree of understanding of COGs and labour.

    You will need to be able to inspire your whole team; Supervisors, front & back of house crew, cleaners, and food distribution as well as having the chops to run a kitchen & provide technical support to our chefs.
