Due to parental leave, a fixed term employment opportunity has become available for a junior lawyer interested in developing research, submission writing and critical analysis skills, through providing support on Court of Appeal and Supreme Court cases undertaken by the Public Defence Service (PDS).
You will support our Senior Lawyer (Appeals) with submissions, research, documentation and analysis in respect of appeals.
This role will focus on Court of Appeal support work; you will also assist the Senior Lawyer (Appeals) with research, submissions and opinions on various legal matters.
From time to time, as your workload allows, you may also provide support to other lawyers within the PDS with research, opinion and submission writing.

This role does not include time in court or carrying a case load (though an internal applicant may be able to retain a small caseload).
The position is a 10 month fixed term contract; however, if filled internally, there may be the possibility of two five month contracts.

Salary range : $51,335 - $60,000
