Are you ready to take on the challenge of becoming a Business Manager in Waiting for some of New Zealand’s most loved brands?

You will be an integral part of our store leadership teams and have the opportunity to learn all aspects of successfully running a cluster of stores!

Briscoe Group operates the Briscoes Homeware, Rebel Sport and the Living and Giving retail stores. We are currently seeking expressions of interest from passionate and experienced retail leaders to become Business Managers in Waiting within our business.

You may already work in a management role in one of our stores or be someone from outside of the organisation with the motivation, skills and nouse to succeed in retail leadership!

Applicants MUST be fully flexible in terms of their ability to accept appointments and stewardships throughout the country as new opportunities can arise at anytime, anywhere.

We need people who are willing and able to grasp these new challenges and run with them!

Our stores are organised into Profit Centres based on geographic locations with Business Managers taking ownership for all of the stores within their Profit Centre.

Business Managers in Waiting will join existing Profit Centres for their introduction to our business, before having the opportunity of taking on Profit Centres of their own to lead and manage.

As a Business Manager in Waiting you will learn about our business and contribute to the leadership of the teams within existing Profit Centre’s (PC’s).

The key responsibilities of a Business Manager in Waiting include :

  • Ensuring that everyone who enters our stores, whether they are team members, customers, contractors or other visitors, has a safe and pleasant experience
  • Driving profitable sales growth and managing the resources within the Profit Centre to achieve a balanced scorecard of business goals
  • Leading, mentoring and coaching your team with passion to deliver a superior customer experience
  • Promoting, advocating and supporting all company learning and training initiatives
  • Ensuring administrative and audit processes are followed
  • You will be :

  • An experienced retailer with a strong customer focus
  • Relevant business management experience, ideally complemented with tertiary study or a comparable qualification
  • A proven leader, experience in managing teams
  • Able to demonstrate effective decision making supported by sound business acumen including creative, strategic, and analytical reasoning
  • Supportive of your team through effective organisational, planning and communication skills
  • A self-starter but TEAM focused
  • Motivated to earn the trust and respect of your team and other colleagues
  • Flexible in your commitments so as to ensure your Profit Centre has appropriate management and leadership across the hours and days we trade
  • Open and able to relocate temporarily and permanently to assist other Profit Centres when unexpected challenges appear and to advance in your career through appointment to your own Profit Centre leadership role
