Mō te tūnga

This is a unique Executive Assistant (EA) position that will see you act as a trusted advisor to the DCE Te Kāhui Kāinga Ora.

In this role you will work confidently and proactively with the Deputy Chief Executive Te Kāhui Kāinga Ora, providing high level support that enables the DCE to use their time and talents to focus on and achieve HUD's strategic outcomes.

The role would suit someone who is comfortable working in an agile and changing environment.

Role responsibilities include :

  • Proactive diary and email management / triage
  • Responding to high level, urgent and sensitive matters
  • Supporting procurement processes
  • Preparation of high-quality documentation
  • Arranging travel and events
  • This is a dynamic role with a variety of responsibilities and relationships that will draw on the full breadth of your professional toolkit.

    You'll also be part of a group doing important mahi for long-term housing outcomes for Māori.

    About you Mōu

    You will be a skilled gatekeeper, always two steps ahead when prioritising diary commitments and travel arrangements and be confident pushing back when required.

    You will have a well-attuned risk radar, excellent relationship management skills, and be comfortable navigating complex, multi-faceted interactions with stakeholders with nuance, tact, and cultural awareness.

    A natural organiser, you'll have great time management skills and be able to multi-task and prioritise work efficiently and effectively.

    You'll approach your work with confidence and resilience, and your sound judgement and decision-making skills will mean you'll know when to take ownership or escalate matters on behalf of the DCE.

    As an active team player, you'll have a natural rapport with others and quickly build meaningful and trusted relationships.

    You'll also bring to the role :

  • A proven track record of delivering quality executive level support in a pressurised environment
  • The ability to prioritise and schedule work to meet tight deadlines
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills with the ability to think outside the square
  • Clear and concise communicator of information - both in oral and written format - appropriate to the target audience
  • Competency in Te Reo Māori me ōna tikanga is advantageous
  • Working experience within a Māori cultural context and knowledge of networks
  • Strong relationship management and influencing skills
  • Political savvy with diplomacy and the ability to manage sensitive information and requests
  • The ability to work in a flexible and dynamic environment
  • Wide ranging experience in administration systems and processes including Microsoft Office 365 products
  • Pre-requisites

  • Must have the right to live and work in New Zealand.
  • Must be able to obtain relevant checks and clearances as / if required (e.g. security clearance).
  • Central government or public sector experience beneficial.
  • An interest and understanding of Te Reo Māori and Tikanga would be highly beneficial.
