As Head of Communications and Engagement, you will be leading a team of more than 20 engagement and communications staff with a strong focus on supporting and enabling the local community and delivering promotions and events in the city.
The Council is committed to making a difference to people in Lower Hutt Te Awakairangi so ensuring the team is encouraged and supported to be innovative in how it engages, is a pre-requisite.
You'll be responsible for managing key partnerships with iwi, community leaders, and business and industry groups. There are clear expectations that engagement will be targeted and effective and that communications will be of the highest standard and delivered in a timely, effective manner.
You will have demonstrable experience leading digital teams, a thorough understanding of modern engagement methods and communications, and a keen interest in the latest developments and best practice.
Overseeing marketing initiatives, and the content, design and publication of corporate documents also sits with this role along with responsibility for the Council's preparedness to respond to any emergency management issues.
To be successful in this role, you will be collaborative, innovative, and customer focused, with experience leading high performing teams.
Experience in local government would be useful. This role reports to the Director of Strategy and Engagement.
