We are seeking applications from qualified veterinary nurses to work in our Community Practice department, within our Companion Animal Hospital team.


Within our Companion Animal Team, you will be working alongside Veterinary Specialists and general practitioners in New Zealand’s only veterinary teaching hospital facility.

Massey Vets provides 24 / 7 Emergency Critical care for Vet clinics throughout the wider Manawatu-Whanganui region and provides after hours care to practices all over the Manawatu.

This leads to a both challenging and extremely rewarding nursing environment. AND you get to help animals and their families make their lives better.

Massey’s Veterinary Teaching Hospital is a state-of-the-art, fast-paced facility offering New Zealand’s most comprehensive veterinary expertise.

Our community practice team have a high caseload and enjoy a varied role working alongside the other departments within the hospital.


The successful applicant will have a broad nursing knowledge to assist with general veterinary enquiries at the front desk.

And previous experience with nurse-led consultations would be advantageous. We are seeking someone with a passion for customer service as this is integral to the success of the role.


Diploma of Vet Nursing or above

Minimum of one years’ experience in general practice

Experience with general anaesthesia and surgical nursing

Advanced administrative prowess

Natural empathy toward the cultural, emotional and physical state of our clients and patients alike

A positive attitude and a passion for critical care and client relations

Genuine interest in undergraduate education

We are looking for someone who exudes those profound people skills by having a passion for great customer service, and who can work closely with their team.

The hours are full time during business hours, but participation on an afterhours roster is required including public holidays and weekends.
