Senior Advisor, Climate Change and Sustainability

You will be joining our award winning Sustainability Advisory team (2020 winner Deloitte Top 200 : Sustainable Business Leadership Award), as we rapidly grow, delivering sustainability, decarbonisation, and climate change advisory services in New Zealand and the Pacific.

    In this role, you will be working with our Sustainability Advisory leaders in supporting project delivery and be based in our Wellington office. You will also :

  • be backed by Beca’s subject matter experts across a range of environmental, engineering, design, digital and project delivery practice areas and have access to our wealth of industry knowledge and long-established client relationships
  • have the opportunity to contribute to the values and mana of the team and to share and build on your technical experience and knowledge
  • consult with clients, building credibility and an understanding of their business and organisation goals and objectives
  • support clients to understand their risks from climate change and reporting obligations under Government reporting requirements, including the Task Force on Climate Related Financial Disclosures (TCFD) framework
  • Project management, delivery and report preparation capabilities will be important for success in in this role. An ability to understand clients’ needs, question and analyse to provide a considered view and solution will be , transport, water, built environments, and central and local government organisations.

This role could suit applicants with current consulting experience, or from a government or policy agency, or wider industry sustainability experience, who may be looking to make a bigger impact on climate change and sustainability in Aotearoa New Zealand.

    To be successful in the role, you must have :

  • Experience in providing corporate consulting or management services, preferably in sustainability or climate change, that will support your role in an advisory team
  • Experience in a corporate or government role providing sustainability or climate change related services
  • The ability to think analytically about climate change and sustainability, and to relate those areas to corporate and government clients
  • Excellent writing skills
  • A combination of skills and experience in the following :
  • Able to work collaboratively in multidisciplinary teams with excellent written and verbal communication skills, with clients, colleagues, and consultants
  • Credible, comfortable, and effective in communicating your expertise on sustainability, particularly in writing
  • Ability to engage with clients, leading to successful pursuits, bids, and winning project commissions
  • Adaptable and versatile to the wide range of work, opportunities, and projects you’ll be exposed to with an ability to handle multiple workstreams or projects at the same time
  • Ambitious to develop your career, and specialist expertise
  • Self-directed, critically minded, a problem solver
  • Experience in carbon accounting, emissions reduction strategies or similar or within another sustainability related discipline
  • Experience with or understanding of sustainability reporting and disclosure methodologies and frameworks (such as TCFD, GRI, SASB, SDGs, Integrated Reporting)
  • Hold a relevant tertiary qualification across law, business, finance, economics, engineering, statistics, environmental science, or a related discipline
