Silverstrand are a Wellington based Civil Construction Company that specialises in earthworks, concrete works, and drainage projects throughout New Zealand.
We are currently looking for suitably skilled Quantity Surveyor for an immediate start based in the Wellington Area.
This is a new permanent career opportunity for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join the business. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will work closely with the Project Managers and Engineers as a team to successfully tender, cost and deliver projects.
Your primary responsibilities will include, but not be limited to :
Assisting in the preparation of tenders and provide tender and estimating support;
Preparation, cost and assess variations for current projects;
Preparation of monthly reporting, invoicing, billings and progress claims for current projects;
Identify cost saving initiatives and alternatives to maximise profitability;
Maintain and co-ordinate information for project and job files (electronic and hard copy), ensuring that all project documentation is recorded as per company processes;
Review contract conditions and provide recommendation, post contract monitoring and reporting including cost analysis and variations for clients and subcontractors; and
Coordinate and attend project meetings, ensuring that all relevant information is made available and meeting minutes are recorded.
The successful candidate for this position must have the following qualifications, experience, skills, and attributes :
Minimum 3-5 Years' experience in Quantity Surveying;
Degree / certificate in Quantity Surveying or a similar construction / engineering trade;
Minimum of 3 years' onsite experience;
Prior experience with civil construction;
Experience in project cost control and reporting, briefing clients, attending / chairing project meetings;
Experience in dealing with queries from clients, consultants, sub-contractors;
Experience in cost monitoring / reporting and budget tracking;
Experience in the administration of tender processes and procurement of sub-contracts;
Experience in the measurement of BOQ's, preparation of tender & contract document;
Experience in tender analysis and reporting, cash flow analysis and cost reporting, claims, variation and interim valuation analysis and final account analysis;
Ability to cost, assess and submit variations;
Ability with project estimation;
Experience in providing support on planning, the use of materials, resources, components or systems within the project, and construction practices and problems to ensure project success;
Experience in procurement and management;
Experience in programming of works; and
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
