As the New Zealand (NZ) General Manager you will define and deliver the business strategy and objectives for Bookabach.co.
nz, part of HomeAway.com, an Expedia Inc. Company. You will be instrumental in developing, analysing and drawing market insights into the local retail environment in order to drive business success for HomeAway.
You will be the external face of the organisation in New Zealand, dealing with property managers, partners, media and government stakeholders.
You will be responsible for meeting financial targets, leading and coordinating the NZ team to achieve outcomes by providing detailed analysis, planning and organisation across all relevant contributing areas and supporting the implementation of our business initiatives end to end.
The role will report directly to the ANZ Regional Director, based in Sydney.
What you’ll do :
Lead and inspire a positive culture through high levels of staff engagement, coaching and development.
Manage the P&L of New Zealand, responsible for reviewing financial statements, sales and activity reports, and other performance data to measure productivity, goal achievement and to determine areas needing cost reduction and / or program improvement where relevant.
Be the face of NZ HomeAway attending media appearances, PR opportunities, managing opportunities with government relations and other Marketing / sponsorship opportunities.
Understand supplier and traveller needs and what HomeAway needs to do to serve those needs while increasing market share.
Analyze HomeAway’s local retail performance and diagnose problems and areas of opportunity for improvement. Understand and defend against key competitors in the markets.
Develop data-driven insights that achieve higher levels of traffic, booking conversion, new listing adoption, listing renewal, supplier adoption of key listing enhancements and monetization.
Working across the matrix with marketing, partner success (sales), customer experience (support) and product management to implement programs designed to optimize HomeAway’s performance in New Zealand.
Play a key role developing budgets and forecasts to drive adoption and usage of existing and new features : expand e-commerce platform and work with Product / CS / Sales / Marketing to promote e-
commerce features and usage to all customer segments.
Provide regular reporting to the company on the business results and key drivers of metrics for our business in New Zealand, including performance across top origin and destination markets.
Partner with respective Business Unit Leaders to determine staff requirements
Who you are :
Bachelor's degree required; MBA preferred
6+ years of Management experience (post-bachelor) or 3+ years of Management experience (post-MBA) required
Experience with Government relations and / or public relations is preferred
Experience managing a P&L and other performance data
Exposure to business development, customer relationships and marketing would be advantageous
Deep knowledge of the travel industry, including key players, market trends, high level requirements and success factors from a supply perspective (preferred)
Proven excellence in program / project management and change management
Strong written, verbal and presentation skills and ability to influence. Media exposure advantageous.
Ability to work both at the 30,000-feet level for the overall business, as well as the ground level to gather insights or drive execution
