Transpower has a dual role as New Zealand's owner and system operator of the National Grid. As the sole transmission network asset owner, we keep the energy flowing - transporting high voltage electricity from where it is generated to cities, towns, and some major industrial users.
As System Operator, Transpower operates the electricity market and power system 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
Our large Information Services and Technology (IST) division enables the business by delivering and supporting the infrastructure and applications that work with the grid, facilitate system and grid operations, and support our corporate processes and systems.
About the team
Our IT Infrastructure and End-User Services (IEUS) team deliver network, core infrastructure (including datacentres, compute, storage, etc.
and end-user services and are accountable for IT service management functions and practice.
The IT Service Management & M365 Platforms Team within IEUS have a wide scope of work, including operation of service management toolsets and platforms used by our geographically dispersed staff and service providers wide.
The Opportunity
Due to internal promotion, we're looking for the new leader of a well performing small team including a tooling specialist, platform specialists, a system analyst, and adoption specialist to plan, manage, and operate infrastructure application platforms, including the evergreen Microsoft365 Platform.
You'll provide service ownership of the suite of support and monitoring tools, and will have oversight of lifecycle management end to end - from roadmaps and project delivery, through to improvement initiatives, and support and maintenance.
You'll also chair M365 Governance in our collaborative model with Enterprise Information Management, Security, and Design.
We'll support you to optimise the delivery of infrastructure end user services and increase the adoption of the toolsets, guide, and advise the wider IT leadership teams in relation to environmental and service management support.

With a service portfolio including the Microsoft 365 suite (with growing uptake of Power Automate, Power Apps and Power BI), Transpower's IT Service Management (ITSM) Tool and the Asset Discovery toolset (BMC Dicsovery), your work will touch all areas of our business and enable you to learn how we impact the lives of New Zealanders every day.
What will you bring?
Your CV and cover letter will show essential exposure to SaaS Platform management - Office / Microsoft365, Cherwell, BMC, or similar services underpinned by a relevant tertiary qualification or equivalent extensive experience in service design.
