Throughout the zoo, there are many species of animals that require branches and foliage (Browse) as part of their daily diet and care.

As Coordinator, you will be working closely with the wider Life Sciences and Horticultural Departments and responsible for sourcing a variety of branches and foliage to supplement the dietary and behavioural requirements of the Zoo's animals.

He kōrero mōu : About youTo be successful in this position you will have a minimum of 2 years' experience in arboriculture or horticulture and be knowledgeable on species identification of trees and shrubs.

You will have experience in pruning practices and principles as well as the ability to identify toxic trees and shrubs.With great communication skills, you will have the ability to build relationships with a wide network of internal and external stakeholders.

You will have strong technical skills, specifically using Microsoft office skills, in order to generate reports and keep accurate, up to date records.

You will have leadership skills and experience coordinating or managing a team and a relevant qualification in Horticulture / Arboriculture is advantageous.

  • Also a high level of energy and physical fitness will enable you to meet the daily challenges of the role.Ngā āhuatanga kei a mātou : What we offerThe role is working Monday to Friday 40 hours per week;
  • however, flexibility is required as there will be occasional weekend work.This is a unique opportunity to play a key role within the Life Sciences Department!
