    He angitūtanga About the roleWorking as part of our Business Support Team in our Corporate Services Group, you will be responsible for assisting The Bay of Plenty Conservation Board, as well as providing a high standard of administrative services to Conservation Board and Operational staff.

    This role is a 12 month fixed term role, part-time at 20 hours per week based in our Whakatane office.The position will be focussed on :

  • Managing Board Member payments (payroll), booking accommodation, setting agenda's and organising travel for Board Members
  • Supporting both the DOC Statutory Manager and the Conservation Board Chair
  • Communicating with a wide range of people at various levels throughout the organisation
  • Carrying out planned work to a high standard, on time and within budget
  • Managing schedules, bookings and correspondence
  • Meeting management, minute taking and room & catering booking
  • Word processing, photocopying and filing documents Ngā pūkenga me ngā wheako Skills and experienceYou will be a self-starter that supports conservation growth and enjoys delivering an exceptional level of customer service by supporting others, resolving enquiries, and providing solutions.
  • If you have the following attributes, we are keen to hear from you :

  • Comprehensive understanding of Microsoft Suite applications, particularly Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • A passion for conservation
  • Be a clear communicator and have the ability to engage both internal and external staff across the motu
  • Ability to meet deadlines and deal with confident / sensitive material with discretion
  • Superb organisational skills and ability to engage with stakeholders across the district
  • The ability to work in a team and be dependant to work alone.
  • Have an attention for detail with strong and accurate written communication
  • Certificate in business / office administration (desirable)
  • Understanding of the concerns and aspirations of tangata whenua and iwi in relation to conservation and treaty settlements
  • An understanding and connection to Te Ao Māori, tikanga and whakapapa
  • A qualification in business / office administration or equivalent experience
  • A high level of organisation skills, the ability to deliver on time and solve problems as they ariseDesirable
  • Good understanding of te reo is highly desirable
