Counties Manukau (CMH) Interpreting and Translation Service (ITS) is based at the Manukau SuperClinic and services the requests of all CMH inpatient, outpatients and community interpreting requirements.

We have a casual position available for a Cook Island Interpreter to join our dynamic team to enable us to meet the needs of our Community.

We are a 24 / 7 service provider and as a casual Interpreter we require you to be available at short notice as well as being able to complete pre-booked appointments.

Ideally you will be available for work on an on-call basis Monday Sunday.Knowledge / Skills / Attributes :

  • Preferred but NOT essential - AUT Certificate in Liaison Interpreting (Health and / or Legal) or have NAATI accreditation at Level 2 or 3
  • Fluent in English and Cook Island
  • Knowledge of the NZ healthcare system and / or medical terminology
  • Provide consecutive interpreting services via face to face, telephone and virtual remote interpreting
  • Able to demonstrate excellent customer service
  • Ability to communicate effectively across culturesThe work we do is challenging, interesting and varied and we offer on-going training and support to enable you to carry out assignments effectively, with ease, and with constant quality assurance measures.
