Ventia are currently seeking to hire 2 Excavator Operators to join their Telco-construction team in Hamilton

This role will be responsible in carrying out earthworks, pavement, and construction work around the Telco network. The role would require operation of a range of excavators, HDD rigs, and other equipment and specialist plant.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 year minimum of proven work experience in trench / duct installation and / or, earthworks and road construction; STMS qualification an advantage.
  • Experience with a wide range of construction plant is required with specific practical knowledge of operation and maintenance of the excavators, loaders, dozers.
  • Demonstrate understanding of plans, drawings and specifications; Ability to set out minor works and assist on work for large projects;
  • Ability to implement and record quality requirements.

  • Demonstrated verbal and written English skills; Demonstrated ability with simple math functions.
  • Maintaining and demonstrating an up-to-date understanding of and compliance with Ventia quality, Health, Safety and Environment (HS&E) systems, policies and procedures, including reporting of incidents, the wearing of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required;
  • Lead or participate in hazard identification and subsequent controls.

  • Demonstrated ability, willingness and commitment to be multi-skilled, up-skilled; continuously up-dates necessary skills and knowledge as required for the role.
  • Physically fit, as the job requires manual work, walking and bending
  • Minimum requirements are a valid Class 2 full driver’s licence with WTR endorsement or equivalent overseas licence.
  • Shortlisted candidates will be asked to undergo a medical including a drug and alcohol test as well as a police check.
