We are looking for an intermediate C++ Developer tohelp shape our digital future.

At HillLaboratories, we are seeking to expand and modernise our Hilltop product suiteof Windows applications. These products are used extensively throughout localgovernment and industry and are critical to the success of the organisationsthat use them.

We are currently working with clients to develop a multi-year roadmapthat will seek to modernise and enhance Hilltop. A considerable part of theroadmap will be implemented using C++ however, other development tools may wellbe utilised to create the best user experience.

In thischallenging yet highly rewarding role, you’ll be helping us to us reimagineHilltop, shaping it for the future and enhancing process.

The Role

  • Develop Windows desktop applications and services in Visual C++.
  • Ensure that code designs conform to the prescribed architecture and its implementation is fully documented.
  • Build clean, readable, understandable and maintainable systems.
  • About You

    You’ll have an excellent knowledge of how to buildscalable working software; you’ll also have extensive experience in C++.

    Thisexperience should have been gained working in industry. If you’ve also workedin a team who utilised agile methodologies then that’s great, we’d love to hearfrom you.

    The ideal candidate will have :

  • A numerate degree would be very advantageous
  • A solid understanding of C++ and MFC
  • A good understanding of microservices architecture
  • Experience in data modelling, software patterns, application architecture / design and API design
  • Proven experience working with a complex, integrated multi-platform environment
  • Understand RESTful principles and be able to implement web services that are capable of functioning at scale
  • Great SQL skills with significant exposure to SQL Server or MySQL.
  • Exposure to source control systems such as Git
  • Experience with JavaScript, HTML and CSS is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Linux and Microsoft Windows operating system platforms.
  • Has worked in an agile team and understands the benefits of agile software development
  • Sound understanding of agile software development, its principles and the benefits it brings to a development team
  • Good communication skills and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent spoken and written English
  • Take ownership for work undertaken
  • Understand that code is an investment and as such it needs to have a ROI
  • You are passionate, energetic, personable and committed to your career. We’re looking for people that will do what it takes to get the job done
  • Exposure to C# is a distinct benefit
  • Use of cloud providers such as AWS or Azure would be beneficial
