Would you like to be part of a dynamic multi-disciplinary team of passionate and energetic individuals working together for the purpose of Building Champion Communities?

The Waipā District is a key location for future investment, growth and development, having recently been categorised as one of the high growth regions of New Zealand.

As you can imagine, that means we're really upping the ante when it comes to the services we provide our communities, and putting a big focus on shared spaces like parks, playgrounds, cycleways, libraries and museums.

We are on the hunt for a Reserves Planner to join our Community Services unit. The successful candidate will be responsible for :

  • Contributing to / leading the preparation, delivery and review of Reserve Management Plans and other strategic and planning documents;
  • Providing technical expertise around planning legislation, bylaws, district plans and resource consents;
  • Collaborating with internal teams around projects and new developments; and
  • Managing relationships with our mana whenua partners and other external stakeholders.
  • The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (or the equivalent knowledge gained through significant work experience) plus a minimum of a year's experience working in planning, property or similar.

    Knowledge of relevant legislation such as the Resource Management Act 1991, Local Government Act 2002 and Reserves Act 1977 is essential.

    The Waipā District is nestled in the heart of the Waikato, within commuting distance of Hamilton, and within easy reach of Auckland, Tauranga and West Coast beaches on weekends.

    Commonly known as the Home of Champions, and encircled by mountains and reserves, Waipā has a rich local history, and offers high performance sport (rowing, cycling and kayaking) and opportunities to get out into nature in abundance.

    We offer a fun and family-friendly environment with generous leave entitlements and genuine care for staff wellbeing, and are committed to supporting ongoing learning and career development.

    Application Closing Date : Sunday 30 January 2022 at 5pm.
