Job Description

The TEC - Te Amorangi Mātauranga Matua is a small Crown agency with a big job to do ensuring New Zealanders have the skills and the knowledge they need to ensure lifelong success to build a great country.

We lead the Government's relationship with the tertiary education sector in New Zealand and provide career services from education to employment.

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to join our Infrastructure Services team for six months. You will lead the continual enhancement of our platforms to improve service and increase speed of delivery for the TEC business customers.


  • Planning, implementing and documenting (where necessary) Infrastructure projects this requires working in partnership with TEC's business stakeholders, Project Management and Architecture teams as well as vendor representatives.
  • BAU maintenance of servers, storage and networking infrastructure (approx. 20% of role)
  • Maintaining strong working relationships with other TEC IT teams and 3rd party vendors.
  • Mentoring and assisting other infrastructure team members.
  • Technical

  • Resource / lead for all IT Infrastructure areas
  • Primary technical resource (SME) for storage and backups (Dell Compellent SC series, Veeam 9.5), VMWare ESX (VSphere 6.
  • 5), SCCM, Exchange, ADFS & all other standard Windows technologies (AD, DFS etc.)

  • Secondary for CheckPoint and F5 (Intermediate)
  • Azure / D365 Admin where required, mainly on the Azure and O365 aspects which D365 relies upon e.g. AAD Connect, D365 Exchange server-side sync, Azure AD
  • What can you bring?

  • Experience using SaaS solutions enablement & integration method
  • Ideally experience with ServiceNow platform and CMDB
