Contact Tracers - COVID Response team

  • About the Role

    The SDHB is interested in recruiting some Case and Contact Team members to be part of the Case and Contact Management Team as part of our Covid-19 Public Health Service.

    You will be part of a team of people working across the Southern district who are undertaking Covid-19 cases investigations and contact tracing work (either in Southern or in other parts of NZ).

  • Case and Contact investigation : First calls to cases and their households to find out the source of their illness and anyone they may have exposed.
  • Exposure Event Investigation : Talking to business owners and investigating likely contacts at any place the case has been while infectious.
  • Case and Contact Monitoring : Completing daily follow up with the cases and their households.
  • You must be able to work between 8 10 hours a day in a 7-day a week roster. There are part time and full-time work opportunities.

    Short-term contracts are available. There are offices based in Queenstown, Invercargill and Dunedin.

    About You

    You have excellent IT skills and are a quick learner with new technology platforms. On the job training for all aspects of the role will be provided, in particular National Contact Tracing Solution but it’s essential that you have the following attributes to be contributing member of this team.

    Attributes needed :

  • Need to be very tech savvy - all the work is online in NCTS and over the phone.
  • Excellent communication and people skills - you will be talking to people on the phone, and would need to be able to navigate difficult conversations.
  • Good understanding and awareness of barriers experienced by our under-served population
  • Understanding and awareness of Tikaka and kawa o Kai Tahu / Māori
  • Able to follow direction.
  • Able to work well within a team and autonomously.
  • Have basic knowledge of COVID-19 disease.
  • Adaptable to work in a rapidly changing environment and pivot accordingly.
  • Strong risk assessment skills.
