He angitūtanga : The opportunity
We are looking for a Senior Solicitor to join our collaborative, dynamic and high performing Legal Services Unit, working across our Public Law and Litigation and Dispute Resolution teams.
Auckland Council deals with a range of high-profile public law and commercial litigation and we have been doing increasing amounts of this work inhouse.
This includes human rights claims in the Human Rights Review Tribunal and judicial reviews in the High Court and on appeal in the Court of Appeal.
We are looking for someone who is looking for fast-paced good quality work to join our supportive inhouse team.
For the first nine months you will be based in the Public Law team working on judicial reviews and public law advisory work covering a parental leave vacancy but longer term as a litigation specialist you will work across both the Public Law and Litigation and Dispute Resolution teams specialising in public law and general commercial litigation as required.
As a trusted advisor to the wider organisation, you will be responsible for providing sound and robust legal advice on a wide range of public law and litigation matters.
You will be adaptable, able to work with a high level of autonomy and be able to garner the respect of a wide range of stakeholders within and external to the organisation.
This is an incredible opportunity to utilise your expertise across the spectrum of litigation and public law issues within a complex organisation.
You will play a critical role in ensuring that Auckland Council acts lawfully, fairly and is open and transparent.
He kōrero mōu : About you
You’ll have a minimum of 7 years' experience in legal practice, preferably in litigation with a public law focus or within local or central government.
With political and organisational acumen, you will have a confident and collaborative working style.
This is an opportunity to utilise your interpersonal and relationship building skills while working across a large and varied portfolio.
You will be solutions-focused and be able to support the organisation in managing risk and thinking proactively.
