We are seeking a technical enthusiastic to join the DevOps Tools and Platforms team and focus on observability and supportability.

In this role, you will define and execute on a road-map to improve supportability of the Observability Platform Service and improve the customer experience through documentation, AIOps and self-troubleshooting tools and feature-set.

  • Drive continuous learning, excellence in execution, and elegance of technical solutions
  • Create and implement platform strategies with Product Owners, and Technology Managers
  • Contribute technical expertise to support team delivery outcomes
  • Define and track success metrics for observability and supportability.
  • Design and write automation software to provision; upgrade and monitor a large global fleet of Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform clusters deployed in a public cloud
  • Build, maintain, and ensure timely delivery of our high-volume event log pipelines.
  • Create libraries, tools, and automation to help ensure that critical event data gets to the right place.
  • Encouraging a culture of Observability at Vodafone NZ - help suss out problem areas and consult on improving visibility into our systems.
  • Prototyping tooling interfaces or building new features for engineering use cases.
  • Improving auto-remediation in our logging infrastructure to avoid recurring failures.
  • Teaching engineers or customer experience agents how to use our tools to introspect their systems.
  • Participating in the Monitoring Infrastructure on-call rotation, triaging, and addressing production issues as they arise.
  • Participate in release cycles of our offerings, deploying code to integration, staging and production environments, integrating with continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) tools, monitoring, and change management
  • Create and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs) for performing maintenance tasks, applying configuration changes, and remediating problems in our environment

  • Strong development background and have previously built and designed automation solutions. This would have included a variety of tools, such as Kubernetes, Chef, Puppet, Ansible, OpenShift etc.
  • Help design and deliver DevOps / CD pipeline solutions for a mix of internal and external environments
  • You would have done your time in an operations role and understand how to make life easier for those around you.
  • You will have spent time working in an Agile environment and have experience working with a SCRUM team.
  • Strong development background and have previously built and designed automation solutions.
  • Knowledge of working in a cloud environment (Azure / AWS)
  • Experience managing Linux servers running Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL), CentOS, or Fedora hosted at a cloud provider like Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Compute Engine (GCE), or Microsoft Azure
  • Experience with enterprise systems monitoring; knowledge of Prometheus is a plus
  • Experience with enterprise configuration management software like Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, Puppet, or Chef
  • Experience programming with at least one object-oriented language, preferably Golang, Java, or Python
